Junk Removal: Don’t Take It With You

Now, you have to be aware before I go into this that I have moved SEVERAL times in my lifetime.  Coming up on my twenty-seventh year in a little over a week, I have probably moved about 15 times total, 5 times in the last 5 years.  Why?  Well, I can tell you it’s not because I like it.  In fact, I hate it.  I hate wrapping glasses, packing boxes, lugging heavy objects up and down stairs, and trying to navigate large peices of furniture through winding hallways.  I am getting frustrated just thinking about what I have had to deal with while moving in the past.

With that being said… ladies and gentlemen, it is that time for me again.  I am moving once more, hoping to stay put for at least two years in this next apartment.  And while I normally would get an instant migraine at the thought, I am actually welcoming the change.  This is because I really do want NEW!

It occured to me the other day, while I was rummaging through my belongings at home, that most of the stuff I was planning to pack, I haven’t used.  I mean, I really haven’t used these items in at least a year, and I didn’t miss them.  I’m talking about half of my christmas decorations, various board games with missing peices, a busted up filing cabinet that is collecting dust and so very much more.  Why should I bring this junk with me?  A lot of it is useless and busted.  I mean, there are some peices of furniture that are good but match nothing else I own and just aren’t my taste anymore.  I have boxes of misc. knick knacks, papers and scraps that I will never display or use.  I don’t want any of this junk anymore!  I am definately not taking it with me.

Unfortunately, I have way to many items to put out in the trash.  Not to mention, I live on the top floor, so I really don’t want to have to lug any of these items down two flights of stairs.  After doing a bit of research I found out I could have this company, 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, come to my apartment and remove my junk for me.  I mean, they do everything!  They come out and give me a free estimate, I show them where my junk is (all over my apartment) and they carry it out and haul it away for me.  I NEVER HAVE TO SEE IT AGAIN!  This is exactly what I was looking for.  So I visited their website and booked online as easy as 1-2-3.  They are going to come out the day I move to take whatever I leave behind in my apartment.  That’s it!  I am free after that.

I have to say, the idea is so liberating.  I really am moving to a new apartment, in a new city, with no clutter!  A complete fresh start.  On top of that, I am not going to have to move any of that junk.  LESS WORK FOR ME!  It’s amazing, and strange to say, but I can’t wait to move.
