5 Easy ways to make money from home in tough economic times

Are you looking for ways to make extra money from home? This article will help you get started by providing you with five easy ways to make extra money on the side without having to take on a part time job or invest money in a business opportunity.

The first way you can start making money from home this weekend is by having a garage sale or yard sale.

Having a garage sale or yard sale is the quickest way to generate some fast cash because to get started all you have to do is search for things around your house that you never use and put them in your sale. Even if you think ‘nobody will buy that!’ don’t forget about the old saying ‘one mans junk is another mans treasure’. My family has been able to generate over ,000 in a weekend just by cleaning out our house / garage and selling the items we weren’t using.

After you’ve collected the items in your house that you’re not using you should also call family & friends to ask if they have any items that they would like to get rid of and you could put those items in your sale.

Another way to sell your stuff is by selling items on ebay. or craigslist  Both websites offer great opportunities to reach a wider audience that might have more of an interest in the unique, maybe strange items you weren’t able to sell in your garage or yard sale.

The second way to make extra money from home is by offering gardening or house cleaning services to your local area.

Many home owners are looking for people that offer these services and you can quickly establish a nice customer base of part time or full time work for yourself if you offer great service for affordable rates.

To get started all you need is gardening tools if you’re going to be offering gardening services or cleaning supplies if you’re going to be offering home cleaning services.

I would recommend contacting your friends and family members first to see if they have any work that needs to be done because by going this route you won’t have to spend any money to get started and you can also ask them to refer you to their friends and other family members if you do a good job for them.

The third way to make extra money from home is getting rid of other people JUNK!

Hauling can be a VERY profitable way to make extra money because almost everyone has extra junk that they would like to get rid of but just don’t have the time to make a run to the dump.

If you own a truck, van or old car you can start by calling your friends and family members to see if they have anything that they need to have hauled away, charge them a small fee (.00 and up), come to their house and haul their junk away!

If you don’t own a vehicle but do have a valid driver’s license I would rent a moving truck for the day to make your dump run.

The fourth way to make extra money from home is recycling. Recycling can be also be another profitable way to make money from home because all you have to do is collect your empty bottles, cans, newspaper or plastic, take them to your local recycling center and get paid.

If you’re interested in recycling you should also consider recycling e-waste (old computers) because recycling companies will pay more for e waste due to the metals that e-waste contains.

The fifth and last way to make extra money from home is by taking an inventory of your personal skills and turning those skills into extra money that you could be making from home.

For example:

Are you a writer? If so college students in your area would be willing to pay to have their terms papers written or edited for them.

Do you know how to use a computer? Your skills are in need because many people in this day and age don’t know how to use common programs like Microsoft Word or the Internet. This is an area where there is a huge need especially when you consider the large amount of baby boomers in this country that are still not using computers.

Are you a contractor? Do you have skills? Many homeowners are looking for people they can trust to make small repairs around their homes without having to pay high prices.

Do you enjoy animals? If so why not become a pet sitter or dog walker? In this busy day and age many people are looking for someone to take care of their animals so they can have the time and freedom to do other things.

I hope this article has given you ideas on ways you can start making money from home. Many of the ideas in this article require little to no money to get started and can help you to start making money in a very short period of time.
